We strongly believe that a synergy between the designers, the investor, and the end user leads to a successful and beneficial design. That is why we were delighted to cooperate with Gdańsk Maritime Institute, which lead to the conception of TRIMOR - a functional and reliable research vessel.
DEFINING THE REQUIREMENTS: CLIENT-DESIGNER COOPERATION
Strong cooperation with a future client and a user of a vessel is the key to defining the design requirements and the proper execution of a complex study. NED has taken this opportunity in 2012 by establishing cooperation with Polish Maritime Institute and their specialists. The goal was to deliver a valuable design which could turn into a research vessel ready to meet all expectations of the crew.

At the beginning of our cooperation, we diagnosed the most important factors to keep in mind during the development of the concept. A variety of activities conducted by Maritime Institute includes, among others, marine hydrotechnical operations, oceanographic research and monitoring and threat prevention of Southern Baltic. A vessel serving all of these purposes has accommodate a number of deck and research devices and be ready to operate as an independent floating workstation.
MEETING THE RESEARCHERS' NEEDS: SMART AND RELIABLE SOLUTIONS
To obtain a significant deck area, a multi hull construction - a trimaran with a center hull and two side hulls - was designed. TRIMOR (NP901), with an overall length of 50m and 25m beam has a total of 50m2 of service area ready to accommodate all research equipment and service containers.

The laboratory area has been located in a deck hangar and equipped with a crane for shifting/moving an ROV/AUT etc. A set of two 25t A-Frames facilitate quick and smooth launch.
